Where can recycled waste tires be used?

Before the 1990s, the disposal of waste tires primarily involved landfill or stacking, leading to significant ecological damage, land occupation, and fire hazards. More critically, this practice resulted in a substantial waste of valuable rubber resources. Today, let’s explore the more innovative disposal methods for waste tires:

1. Tire retreading is an effective way to reuse waste tires. The worn outer layer of a tire is removed, and a new layer of rubber is applied and vulcanized to produce a retread tire. This method can extend the tire's lifespan by one to two times with proper maintenance.

2. Prototype modification involves techniques such as bundling, cutting, and punching to transform waste tires into useful products. Various creative applications include turning tire strips into elastic protective nets, creating anti-skid mats, or processing them into sewage pipes. Additionally, waste tires can be strategically buried under grass to retain rainwater or utilized for slope stabilization to combat wind and sand erosion.

3. Thermal energy utilization involves using waste tires as fuel, providing a source for thermal power generation or combustion in industrial boilers. However, due to environmental concerns, this method hasn’t gained widespread acceptance.

4. Desulfurization for recycled rubber production utilizes chemical treatments. Although this process has faced challenges such as inefficient performance and high energy consumption, it is increasingly being replaced by the production of rubber powder.

5. Mechanical processing to obtain rubber powder involves crushing waste tires to create powdered rubber. This powder has diverse applications, including its use as a rubber substitute in manufacturing tires and conveyor belts, in construction when combined with asphalt or cement, and in numerous other fields.

6. High-temperature thermal decomposition allows for the breakdown of waste tires into combustible oil, gas, and carbon powder through high-heat processes.
